Charlie Johnson’s 60 Year Award
Charlie Johnson received his 60 year award in 2014, only our 3rd Posse member to achieve this status. He is a cowboy’s, cowboy, a rodeo rough stock rider, bull dogger, and a rancher. He attended TCU on a rodeo scholarship. Phil Livingston rodeoed with Charlie, said “he was a good cowboy”.
Charlie joined the Posse in 1954, served as Sec/Treas in 1959, received a 40 year award in 1994 and a 50 year award in 2004. His wife Peggy was a barrel racer, Charlie’s sons Joe and Stoney followed his footsteps also as Posse members.
Charlie operated a horse sale in Weatherford for many years, and said to be a good horsemen and horse trader. Charlie’s many years of service, hard work, and contributions to the Posse and our community is greatly appreciated. He is truly a western heritage icon, as we continue to strive to keep our western heritage alive.
Thanks Charlie Johnson.
